Custom Teak Shower Floor Designed for Seamless Flow
We recently completed a custom-made teak shower floor tailored to meet both aesthetic and functional goals for a builder in Bronx, NY. This project focused on achieving a clean, seamless transition from the bathroom into the shower space—something that required careful attention to both design and precision craftsmanship.
Originally designed at a height of 1-15/16″, the shower floor was raised to 2-1/4″ to ensure it would sit perfectly flush with the surrounding bathroom floor. This adjustment allows the shower pan and teak surface to align seamlessly, creating a smooth, continuous flow from the main floor into the shower area. The result is a refined, spa-like look that enhances the overall space.To maintain both practicality and ease of maintenance, the floor was constructed in two panels. When placed together, they fit tightly to mimic the appearance of a single, unified surface. At the same time, this two-piece design allows for easy removal, making routine cleaning and access to the underside simple and efficient.
This project highlights how thoughtful customization—down to fractions of an inch—can elevate both the form and function of a space. The final product not only meets the builder’s specifications but also delivers a sleek, durable, and user-friendly solution that will stand the test of time.
