For this Charleston, South Carolina home, our client needed a meaningful upgrade to her master shower—one that balanced safety, accessibility, and timeless design. To better accommodate her disabled partner, we custom fabricated an FEQ (First European Quality) teak shower floor designed to sit perfectly flush with the existing shower surface. This zero-threshold approach makes entering and exiting the shower safer and far easier to navigate, without sacrificing style. Teak was the ideal material choice. Naturally slip-resistant and highly durable in wet environments, FEQ teak is well-suited for accessibility-focused bathroom upgrades. The client chose an oiled teak finish, enhancing the wood’s warm, natural tone while also helping to seal and protect it. Regular oiling not only preserves the rich appearance but also extends the lifespan of the teak, making it a practical long-term investment. This project is a great example of how custom craftsmanship can improve daily living—creating a shower space that is safer, more functional, and beautifully tailored to the homeowner’s needs.
